Do you ever feel like it’s hard enough to find time to write, but you should find time to exercise and stay healthy too? (groans)
It’s the holiday season full of fantastic food, family and friends, and at times I’m sure the majority of us indulge. So, rather than wait for the holidays to end for that New Year’s resolution to eat healthy, lose weight and exercise, why not start now? Exercising every day is helpful if you have time. However, I’ve found that 3-5 days a week is sufficient. Keep it simple and it’ll get done. Right now, along with healthy eating, I’m in the process of the workout below and am finding it to work so well, I wanted to share it.
Step One: Take ten thousand steps each workout. I saw this tip on a morning news show. I know it sounds like a lot, but it only takes about 25 minutes to walk 10, 000 steps! I recommend, if you don’t have a lot of space, the stepper pictured above. It’s the one I use, and it works really well. You can also buy a pedometer and take a fun walk instead!
Step Two: Work out your arms without weights or the gym. The arm bands on the stepper above get the job done. You can work out your biceps and triceps easily. If arm bands aren’t for you, you can do other exercises while you’re stepping. On the same morning news show, I saw some other terrific ideas: 1. 100 front claps with your arms extended in front of you, but don’t let your hands touch. 2. 100 back claps, same as the front, but behind you. 3. 100 alternate left and right punches to the ceiling with your hands and arms directly in front of you.
Step Three: Abdominals! After having six kids, I find that doing regular sit-ups doesn’t work. I do a modified form of P-90 X Abdominals. The regular workout takes fifteen minutes, but doing a modified version on my own without watching the video can take as little as five minutes!
Good luck and feel free to share your workout successes. Thank you for stopping by and hope you have a wonderful holiday season!
